Community Builder & Parent
I have lived and raised my 7 children in this same School District for over 25 years. We are a biracial blended family with hers, his, and ours. We have children with learning disabilities and emotional trauma. Our children have utilized individualized education program (IEP) and the special accommodation plan (504) spanning across 5 elementary schools, 3 middle schools and 4 high schools. Our children have also played a variety sport over the years in school and several sports leagues.
Researcher & Data Analyst
I have 10 years of experience researching, managing, and analyzing data for multiple programs serving middle school through college graduates. I analyzed the trends in the program data and found two main age groups with emotional stability gaps and growth opportunities. These gaps were 7th-9th grade and the last year of college through the second year of their career. I also found that teens and young adults with strong community connections, leadership qualities, and are socially smart with their online profiles have more success than those that did not.
My Purpose
I strive to help young teens learn leadership skills that gives them the confidence to make the right choses on and offline. I truly believe and have seen evidence that teens can develop life skills through a local community where they can learn, grow, and encourage each other. Providing them with the right environment and guidance, they will learn self awareness that will help them manage their emotions, understand perspectives of others, and speak constructively across differences. These lifelong skills are transferable to their future careers and relationships.
