But it didn't need to be that way.
Let's get real... devices and gaming seem to be taking over our families. It can be so overwhelming for you and your family when it feels like everything changes overnight! There are more apps being developed with a social technologies that it is hard to keep up with then all. I have worked in the tech industry for over 25 years and even I found it hard to navigate all the changes leaving me feeling alone and frustrated.
My 7 kids span across the tech explosion and I have had to learn through trial and error to find solutions and strategies that worked. Our goal as parents is to help our teens gain more autonomy as they grow... but it is difficult to balance freedom and boundaries in the tech world. I know you don't want your teens to be ill-equipped as adults! Even your good teen can innocently fall into traps. A simple search on Google for a word they heard a friend say provides them with inappropriate content they did not understand. An incent app can become a nightmare when it included chat with an update. When this was happening with some of my teens and the use of their smart phones became a daily activity, I knew I needed to develop a plan to manage usage and their personal safety.
I want to make this easier for you and your family by joining with you and other parents in a safe space. I want to walk you through what I learned from raising my teens and the data research I have done. I have developed a Family Communication and Technology Framework that provides strategies and tool for you and your family to implement and improve communication about technology.

Time Commitment

Each week, homework includes four conversation questions that pertains to that weeks lesson and a technology checklist. Homework should only take 30 - 60 mins per week.
